Jane King is president of FOCO. She was educated in England, Scotland and the USA. She speaks Spanish, French and German.She is in the food business in Austin Texas and spends her free time knitting, cooking, traveling and fundraising for Friends of Colombian Orphans. Jane is the adoptive mother of Nataly, who is her inspiration for the success of this nonprofit venture.
John King is a Board member and Treasurer. He is Professor of Undergraduate Legal Education at Concordia University-Texas. . John became involved with the homeless children who were not being adopted while he was adopting Nataly in 2006 .
Karen Brooks was born and educated in the UK. She works as a projects director for five UK Universities (Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton and Surrey and holds a degree in computer science. She has over 20 years marketing, communications and project management experience. Karen is god mother to Nataly, the inspiration of the charity. She also is sponsoring a girl in Colombia for her English training and she is madrina (god mother) to her son, Thomas who is 18 months old. Karen is single with no children of her own but is a devoted aunt to 4 nephews, 3 nieces and 5 god children around the world.
Laritza M. Taft, MD, PhD born and raised in Colombia South America. In her native country she practiced medicine as a Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Hospital de San Jose de Bogota and Universidad del Rosario. In 2000 she married and moved to the USA, and continued her carrier in Biomedical Informatics at the University of Utah. She currently lives in the DC area, and works for the government. She is a fiber artist, knits, spins, weaves, and of course she is a machine knitter as well.
