Hogares Club Michin

Hogares Club Michin

Is a Colombian nonprofit organization founded more than 30 years ago by a Bogota woman whose heart was touched by the plight of the city’s street children. Her personal enterprise grew into a well known institution that has been a temporary or permanent  home for hundreds of children. Since its inception, Hogares has also developed a small battered women’s center which provides safe housing, counseling and social services for the women and children in their care.

They have oversight from ICBF , the Colombian government entity involved with family and child care. ICBF provides some economic support, but  not nearly enough for all the children’s needs and various programs within Club Michin. Club Michin provides vocational training in the form of baking, woodworking, and now machine knitting. All programs are tiny and need to grow.
Their dream, like ours, is to provide these young Colombians with training that will help them become self-sufficient and honorable citizens of the world.
